Flexible Foam Fabrication: Getting Started

Getting Started:

The following criteria define each project's scope and those details are helpful for New England Foam's consultants to expedite requests:

Application:

Foam has a near-infinite amount of applications due to its buoyancy, energy absorption, low thermal conductivity, resiliency, resistance to chemicals, and ease of fabrication. New England Foam specializes in aerospace, agricultural, commercial, construction, industrial, medical, packaging, residential, sports & leisure, transportation and miscellaneous specialty applications.

Material:

Foam varies according to cell-structure, combustibility, comfort, density, durability, firmness, flexibility, porosity, resilience, strength, support and thickness. Designed to custom specifications and available in bun, plank, roll and sheet form, New England Foam fabricates polyester, polyether, polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, polyurethane and viscoelastic (memory) foams.

Density:

Related to durability, strength and support, density refers to foam’s internal structure and is defined as the weight in pounds of one cubic foot of material. It is important to note that foam density is not a measurement of foam firmness, as firm foam is not always high-density. New England Foam stocks densities ranging from .9 to 9 pounds per cubic foot.

Color:

Foam is traditionally color-coded during the manufacturing process for aesthetic purposes or to identify a particular product grade. New England Foam stocks dozens of different colors of foam including those most requested: black, white, charcoal, gray (light & dark), red, blue, green, yellow, purple, pink (anti-static) and multicolored (rebond). To increase the options available, we stock flock in dozens of different colors that enhance the look and feel of finished products.

Dimensions:

New England Foam has the capability to combine foams of different densities, shapes and sizes. For custom designs, our consultants require the length, width and height of each product.

Quantity:

New England Foam prices each job per quantity of release. Our 100,000 square foot facility has the capacity for long (high-volume) runs and the flexibility for short (low-volume) runs.

Special Instructions:

Additional information regarding the following is helpful to determine lead-times: samples, package design, product development, prototype creation, tooling, assembly, packaging and shipping. For additional assistance, please call our toll free "foamline" (800.828.0333).
